Getting Creative

Many of my students don't own a drum set when they first start taking lessons, so I'm often asked how they can practice at home without a kit. The answer is to get creative with different objects and surfaces to create a makeshift drum set. I love it when my students show me these improvised drum setups, and I love it even more when I see they've purchased their first drum set! A student recently sent me these 2 images.
